Aptitude Test Applications Are Now Open

Film & Television Studies and Sports Science degree programmes — find out everything you need to apply successfully.

The University of Kelaniya has officially announced the calling of applications for aptitude tests for the 2025/2026 academic year. If you sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2025 and are planning to pursue a specialised degree, this is your moment. Two prestigious programmes — Film & Television Studies and Sports Science — require candidates to sit and pass an aptitude test as part of their university admission process.

An evidence-based programme focused on human performance, physical fitness, and sports achievement at competitive levels.

Physical Assessment

📝 Who Can Apply?

Sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination in 2025 and meet the minimum eligibility requirements set by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Applied for university admission through the UGC — the aptitude test application is an additional step on top of your regular university application.

Apply separately for the aptitude test at aptitudetest.kln.ac.lk and pay the Rs. 1,800 application fee before the closing date.

Sit and pass the aptitude test — attendance is compulsory, and your admission card will be sent via email or SMS (not by post).

Important Reminder: Passing the aptitude test alone does not guarantee university admission. You must also meet the required Z-score cut-off determined by the UGC. Both criteria — the aptitude test result and your Z-score — must be satisfied for selection into these programmes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply for both programmes at the same time?
Yes, you can apply for both programmes, but you must submit a separate application and fee (Rs. 1,800 each) for each aptitude test.
Is the Film & Television Studies test available in English or Tamil?
No. The written test for Film & Television Studies is conducted in Sinhala medium only. Please ensure you are comfortable before applying.
How will I receive my admission card?
Admission cards will be sent to you via email and/or SMS. They will not be posted. Make sure your email address is correct when submitting your application.
What sports achievement documents do I need for Sports Science?
You should bring official certificates or records verifying your participation or achievements at International, National, Provincial, District, or Zonal levels in any recognised sport.
If I pass the aptitude test, am I guaranteed a place?
Not automatically. You must also achieve the required Z-score cut-off set by the UGC for the relevant degree programme. Both criteria must be met for selection.
